Hospital Policies

Leashes and Carriers

All pets coming into the building must be on a leash or in a carrier. If your pet is on a retractable leash, we may kindly ask you to use a slip lead for safety purposes. This is imperative for the safety of both pets and people.

Appointment Capacities

We are currently allowing one (1) person per household into the exam rooms for doctor appointments. For euthanasia appointments, two (2) people per household are allowed in the exam room.

Late and Missed Appointments

Once your appointment is scheduled, we have reserved the time especially for you. Should you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require at least 24 hours’ advance notice. Appointments missed with no advance notice or less than 24 hours’ notice will incur, at minimum, a $50 charge for Doctor appointments and a $35 charge for Technician appointments. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.

Written Prescription Fee

Bayside Veterinary Care works solely with one online pharmacy, Vetsource. If you would like a written prescription to get your pet’s medication from somewhere other than Vetsource or Bayside, there will be a $10 fee. You must give us a five-day lead time to write that prescription for you. We will call you when it is ready to be picked up. If your pet needs a medication that Bayside or Vetsource does not carry, or if you request a written script at the time of an appointment with the doctor, there will be no fee. Our practice page can be found at Vetsource.com. Vetsource often has ongoing discounts, so please look for those in your email or reach out to us and we will provide you with one.

Urgent Refill Fee

Urgent medication refill requests that are requested for the same day are subject to a $5 urgent refill fee.

Pre-Visit Pharmaceuticals

As part of our Fear-Free approach to pet care, a doctor may recommend that your pet have medications the night before and on the day of a vet visit. We do not use these medications to make our job easier. These medications are designed to help prevent your pet from forming fear memories during vet visits, which then make future visits more frightening. These medications are safe and provide short-term anxiety relief without heavy sedation. We can better assess and treat pets who are relaxed during visits. And equally important, your pet will not be scared and anxious about vet visits. More information about Fear Free practice is available on our website.

Payment is Due at the Time of Service

Bayside Veterinary Care Inc. does not bill for services. Payment in full is due at the time of service. Deposits may, at times, be required prior to care being administered or visits being scheduled. We accept checks, cash, Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, debit cards and Care Credit. If you have an outstanding balance on your account, you will not be able to schedule appointments, get medication refills, or obtain copies of your pet’s records. If you have a due balance on your account over seven (7) days old, we may inactivate your account.
